Pastor’s Pen for Sunday, July 7, 2019

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
The people He has chosen as His own inheritance.”
Psalm 33:12

God Bless America, Please

How can we see our nation blessed,
Knowing the many ways it has transgressed,
Fallen short, with sins unconfessed,
Putting God’s patience to the test…

America, home of the brave and land of the free,
Have we forgotten our heritage; failing to see,
It’s by God’s amazing grace, we have liberty,
And depending upon the Lord, is the key…

For it’s not by our own strength or might,
It’s not by political will or insight, 
Nor is it siding with the left or right,
America is blessed by walking in the light…

The light of God’s unchanging Word,
The faith that comes when it is heard…

There is no substitute for this foundation,
When the Lord is our God, we are a blessed nation!

So happy birthday to the U.S.A.,
May the Lord truly be our hope and stay,
May we turn and simply say:
We long for You Lord to have Your way!

Rarely song, here is the last stanza on our National Anthem…

“O thus be it ever, when free men shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war’s desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heaven rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation!
