"Believe in the Lord your God, and you'll be able to stand firm...After consulting the people, the king appointed singers to walk ahead of the army, singing to the Lord, and praising Him for His holy splendor." II Chronicles 21:20-21
The story is familiar. The people of God are surrounded by a coalition of enemies. King Jehoshaphat and the city of Jerusalem are terrified. It seems hopeless.
In honesty and desperation, the king cries out: "We do not know what to do, but we are looking to You Lord for help." II Chronicles 20:12. He was unashamed of his dependence on God. This wasn't his battle, it belonged to the Lord.
Reminding us to believe and connecting us to His victory is what worship is all about. It's the stand we take, knowing He is awaiting our response, aware of circumstances and available to see us through the battle.
We need to be connected so His grace and power can be flow to and through us. It's not based upon how we are feeling, or on our performance, or what we're facing. God welcomes us to the wonders of worship!
Surrounded by the Lord, what can the enemy do to us? Connected to His love, what can separate us from Him? Yes, convinced we stand; connected we abound; covered we overcome! The battle is not ours, but the Lord's!
Singers arise and connect!
