Are We There Yet?
"Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He Who promised is faithful."
Hebrews 10:23
It's the proverbial question kids ask on any journey, repeatedly!
It's frequency can cause a parent to question whether or not the journey was worth it.
The question? "Are we there yet?" The only reply is, "not yet".
The Bible is filled with stories of waiting. Stories of individuals like Noah, Abraham and Sarah, Joseph, David, Job...
The story of Israel waiting for freedom from slavery, waiting to enter the promised land, to be delivered from exile...waiting for the Messiah.
Hebrews 11 tells the Biblical history of those who waited, saying they, "did not receive the things promised...only seeing them from a distance." (Hebrews 11:13) Waiting is not easy, but it is rewarded!
As we wait for Christ's return, let's remember that God always keeps His promises. Let's not waiver when answers seem delayed or when darkness lasts longer than we anticipated. Hold fast to the hope, for He Who promised is faithful, indeed!
