Cross Examined
"Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting"
Psalm 139:23-24
When it comes to "cross examination" in a legal case, litigants are asked probing questions. This is the concept David uses in Psalm 139 when using the word - "search".
God knows everything there is to know about us. Our every move, motivation, mistake, mindset and myriads of other details. This knowledge, however, does not bring judgment upon us. Why?
Because of the cross!
Jesus took all our sins and unrighteousness upon Himself on the cross! Coming to Him and receiving Him as our Savior allows us to be in right relationship with God. This is "cross examination"!
At the cross we have been cleansed of all unrighteousness and the condemnation it brings. At the cross we find restoration and the way everlasting. At the cross we have been "cross examined" and pardoned through the blood of Jesus!
So today we can rejoice that we are known by God as His beloved children. We long for His "cross examination" which changes our story for His glory!
We revel in the relationship made possible by His grace!
What wonders abound because of the cross!

Thank you for such a refreshing reminder we are to examine ourselves, at the same time the over powering Love of God cleanses and restores us.
God Bless you Pastor Rick.
