Pastor’s Pen for Sunday, November 10, 2019

“The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness,
but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that
all should come to repentance.”  II Peter 3:9

Willing

Some prove themselves unreliable,
Offering their word which is then deniable,
Making promises, sometimes quite sizeable,
But not so with the Lord…

Maybe you’ve been taken down that track,
“A handshake and a slap on the back”
Assured, then you found some ‘slack’.
Not so with the Lord…

For God’s promises are “Amen and Yes”,
With Him we never have to guess,
He is the One Who has come to bless,
So it is with the Lord…

And we see God’s heart so willing,
To forgive those whose hearts are spilling,
In repentance turning, hearts with His love now filling,
This is the way of the Lord…

“Not willing that any should perish”,
But that those willing to be saved,
To Him, are welcome to come!

And there you will find this Lord so able,
To forgive you and seat you at His table,
Be assured, this is no fable,
This is the heart of the Lord…
