“But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions,
do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.” II Timothy 4:5
Watchful
Keep a listening ear and a watchful eye,
For we’re told the enemy will try,
To pull us away with some crafted lie,
Causing our usefulness to die…
In a time of distractions and distrust,
Beware of the pressure to hit the dust,
Or to be outwitted by what’s unjust,
But let us simply, in Jesus to trust!
So keep watch, eyes fixed on Him,
Don’t be drawn out on a limb,
Avoid religious jargon and some pious prim,
Let Jesus keep you close to Him!
Even when things get complicated.
And your problems seem overstated,
Don’t let God’s power be underestimated,
Remember, you have not yet graduated…
From the school of adversity,
Sometimes there may be scarcity,
But God is with you, His plan you’ll see,
He who has Christ Jesus is truly free!
So do the work, your faith to share,
Speak in love; show others His care.
You are His hands, everywhere,
Go with Him, He will be there!
