Radically Loved
"He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you by His love; He will exult over you with loud singing." Zephaniah 3:17
It's Valentine's day and the concept of love, from the world's perspective, remains trite and shallow.
In a world where people "love their car, their new diet, their fast food choices, etc." the Biblical concept of love is missed entirely. The word love is trivialized and meaningless.
Thank God for His word! There we find that love is Who He is. Love (agape) is not a passing feeling or a fiery emotion; it's not some heroic activity or attention getting scheme. Instead, love is a decision based upon who we are, not on what we want. See I Corinthians 13
During these many weeks of recovery from surgery and complications, God's love has been my anchor. For you see, we are radically loved! His love doesn't wane when we're weary; does not crumple when we complain; won't run away when we have run out of strength...
No love never fails, fades, fractures or falters!
The prophet Zephaniah captures this truth when he reminds us that we are radically loved. This is truly who we are: loved by God.
So look up! You're in His thoughts, plans and care.
No weapon formed against you can prosper. No sickness or disease can stand in the way of His healing. No despair can last in light of His delight for us. Hear Him singing over you, quieting the noise and distractions by His love!
We are loved,
Pastor Rick
