The God Who Listens
"Then you will call on Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:12-13
There is a story about people not listening. Apparently, President Franklin D. Roosevelt often endured long receiving lines at the White House. He complained that no one paid attention to what was said. To address this, he decided to experiment at a reception. As guests passed by and shook his hand, he said, "I murdered my grandmother this morning."
The guests proved his point when they responded with phrases like, "Marvelous! Keep up the good work. God bless you sir!" It wasn't until the end of the line, when greeting the ambassador from Bolivia, when his words were actually heard.
Calmly the ambassador whispered, "I'm sure she had it coming."
Scripture assures us that God listens to our prayers! Always attentive, interested and available, the Lord invites our calling on Him.
"Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him." I John 5:14-15
Knowing that He hears us bolsters our confidence! It reminds us to pray without ceasing, to ask and keep asking, to boldly enter heaven's courts in the Name of Jesus.
Revitalize your prayer life by remembering His revealed Word! When you call on the Lord, He listens! When you seek Him, He will be found!
