Commemorate
"For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes."  I Corinthians 11:26

Having been delivered from Egyptian slavery and bondage, God's people remembered and celebrated through the passover meal.  They rejoiced in their liberation and recalled God's faithfulness.

As Christians we to remember and celebrate our liberation from sin and bondage in the communion meal.  Holy communion is a commemoration of what Jesus has done for us through His death and resurrection! There is much to commemorate!

The bread and cup remind us of His broken body and His shed blood.  It is a visible demonstration of His provision for us.   It is also a physical commemoration that the price has been paid in full for our redemption; that by His stripes we are healed and that Jesus will return to take us to be with Him.

The amazing power of this commemoration should never be lost in casualness but should invigorate and strengthen us...
...In thankfulness and humility, let the us partake!
...In full awareness of His sacrifice, let us remind ourselves of His amazing love! ...In confidence and courage, let us receive His healing!

Grateful for Jesus,
Pastor Rick Meyers
