"So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see Him, since Jesus was coming that way. When Jesus reached the spot, He looked up and said to him, 'Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today'." Luke 19:4-5
Zacchaeus may have been short in stature, but he was determined. Even if he had to climb a tree he would, just to see Jesus. Or maybe he was avoiding the crowd and wanted to be out of their view.
As a tax collector, he probably had a reputation for extorting money from people. He was viewed as a social outcast. Friendless and distrusted, he avoided being seen in public.
But this day was different. Jesus was coming by...
To enhance his view he got elevated, situated and silent.
But Jesus knew just where Zacchaeus was. Just as He knows where we are. Jesus has us in view!
There beneath that fig tree Jesus expressed His viewpoint.
Today is your day! Today I must come to your house. Today your life will never be the same again!
Jesus said to him, 'Today salvation has come to this house...for the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost'...Luke 19:9-10 This is the Lord's viewpoint!
Whatever needs mending; Whatever is lost; Whatever you are facing, Jesus is there calling you to Himself!
Our viewpoint is limited, His is not. Our viewpoint is tainted, His is not. Our viewpoint sees 'no way out', He is the Way!
We don't have to be 'out on a limb', stuck in a tree. Look, Jesus is right where you are inviting you to new life. Let Him come to your house!
