Clay Jars
"But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us."
II Corinthians 4:7
It's not about us, but Who has us! This truth is reflected throughout Scripture, indicating the relational nature of our walk with the Lord.
We are "earthen vessels" - clay jars who are imperfect and breakable, but we have the very life of Jesus living in us. Though powerless in ourselves, we can contain the "treasure" of God's timeless love and enduring strength found in Jesus.
Even when we find ourselves "hard-pressed on every side" or "persecuted" or even "struck down", He Who is within us reveals His power in spite of our weakness. Since the same Spirit dwells in us that dwells in Jesus we are not "crushed; in despair or destroyed". (II Corinthians 4:8-10)
Clay jars may not be impressive on the exterior. However, what they contain can be, because He Who is in you is the Hope of glory! We are His vessels of victory.
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day." (II Corinthians 4:16)
