Advice for 2023
"You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands." Isaiah 55:12
It's here, a new year with another opportunity for growth, decision making, challenges and so on. But for followers of Jesus Christ, there are vital certainties that remain and are not based upon what day or year it is. Though 2023 may be unknown to us, consider three things we know for sure...by reading Isaiah 55:6-13
First, we know the Lord is near and can be found by those who seek Him. By forsaking our wicked ways and turning to the Lord, "He will have mercy on us" and "pardon" us freely. (Isaiah 55:6-7) There is forgiveness in Jesus name!
Secondly, we know the surety and reliability of God's Word. His word accomplishes what He sends it to do. "It (His word) will not return to Me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it." (Isaiah 55:11) We need to be in the Word and grounded upon it!
Thirdly, we have boldness and confidence because we the joy of the Lord is our strength. We need not fear or walk in dread, but know that we are "led forth in peace". (Isaiah 55:12-13) Grounded and surrounded - we can do all things through Christ!
So here's simple advice for all of us: seek the Lord with all your heart; trust in His Word and allow it to transform your thinking; and walk humbly and boldly with Jesus...expectantly ready to be serve Him by serving others.
Happy new year!
